LaCrosse AeroHead Sport Snake Boots

The Hunting Wire sent a set of LaCrosse AeroHead Sport Snake Boots to Wisconsin where retired Marine Corps Sgt. Major Michael Grassl used them for the 2021 deer archery and rifle seasons.

Here’s what the combat veteran, whose tours of duty included time as a summer-winter mountain leader at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC), had to say about the boots.

“I wore these LaCrosse boots hunting in the 20-degree weather in Wisconsin, and they felt like I was walking on pillows,” said the career infantryman. “They are very comfortable and warm both while walking and stationary. Normally, when I sit for a while about an hour into a sit, I would get cold. These boots keep me warmer longer. I also like the fact they are snake boots so I can wear them south if needed. Overall, they are very comfortable and warm, and I never had an issue crossing creeks with them either.”

Grassl attributed the boots comfort and quietness to their unique design and rubber composite. “I noticed these boots, unlike other rubber boots I’ve used in the past, are a lot quieter to walk in. How quiet? “I actually got very close to deer, and they never heard me walking in,” said Grassl. “I got as close as 40 yards to deer, and they never noticed.”

Overall, Grassl felt the boots were a better stalking tool for hunters. They’re stealthier, and its especially noticeable when I’m walking in the snow. I think it’s because LaCrosse simply uses a better, softer rubber.”

On top of their warmth, comfort, and quietness, Grassl thought the boots dexterity stood out from other boots because he said they were much easier to use going into and out of tree stands. “I was very happy with how they climbed,” said Grassl. MSRP: $210 http://www.lacrossefootwear.com/
