AUG 30, 2021   |   LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Hunting is back! From dove, to elk, to bear, to early deer seasons, and everything else we pursue across the United States, hunters are back in the woods! This year should prove to be interesting as COVID-19 continues to impact our professional and private lives across the world.

Last issue we talked about our community’s need for unity. Are we united? If not, what can we do to help get us there? Much has been said about the R3 model for hunting, and unity plays a key role in its success. How do we recruit, retain, and re-energize hunters across the United States?

I urge you to pay close attention to your local, state, and federal conservation influencers, law makers, and funding sources. Are they pro-hunting? Do you know? Are you involved in the decision-making process? If not, can you be?

The ability to hunt requires quite a bit of resources. From time, money, and access to equipment, plentiful game, and the ability to get there in the first place. Hunting and our ability to do it must be protected in all its phases. The Second Amendment and hunting are not mutually exclusive. Just food for thought.

Enjoy the start of what we all hope is another banner year for hunters, hunting, and our community. As always, thank you for your support and feedback about The Hunting Wire, Jay Pinsky jay@theoutdoorwire.com
