Desert Wetland Restoration: How Hunting Plays a Role

Join Partners for Fish and Wildlife Biologist Gwen Kolb at The Boys and Girls Ranch of New Mexico in the Middle Rio Grande Valley. Kolb and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program provide technical assistance on The Ranches’ wetlands restoration project in the Chihuahuan Desert. The restoration of this historic wetland along the Rio has been so successful that waterfowl have taken up residence at the site, making it possible for the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association to host their 2022 Invitational in the desert, and their first invitational ever in a western state.
