Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Hunter Education course dates have been set several for several communities in northeast Montana.
In-person, instructor-led hunter education classroom courses are available to anyone age 10 and older and provide new hunters with a hands-on learning experience. There will be three youth classroom courses offered in various communities. The course dates and locations are as follows:
In-person class in Dodson
- Dodson Senior Center
- August 16-17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
In-person class in Poplar
- Poplar Middle School
- August 26-28, 6-8 p.m., Sept. 6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
In-person class in Lodge Pole
- Chief Nosey Center
- August 30-31, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
There are also several opportunities for field days for online students offered in northeast Montana:
August 15: Field day for online hunter education students, Valley Co. Rifle and Pistol Club

August 24: Field day for online hunter education students, Glasgow FWP headquarters

Note: The online courses for hunter and bowhunter education (course fees apply) need to be completed before signing up for the field day. Students aged 18 and over are not required to attend a field day but are welcome to if space allows.

Students must be registered prior to attending an in-person class or field course. To find a class and register, and to learn more information, go to https://fwp.mt.gov/hunt/education/hunter. Make sure to print, read and sign any necessary paperwork ahead of the class.
