Matthew, who hails from southeast Texas, specializes in the Olympic Trap discipline. In 2022, Matthew made prominent showings in several national and international events, including:

  • ISSF World Championships, Osijek, Croatia (Bronze medalist team member)
  • ISSF Junior World Cup, Suhl, Germany (12th overall individual, Gold medalist team member)
  • USAS National Championships (Junior Men's National Champion, 5th overall in open category, selected to Men's National Team)
  • USAS National Junio Olympic Championships (Junior Men's Bronze medalist)
  • USAS Junior Team Selection Match (Silver medalist and US Junior National Traveling Team member)
