Culinary Quality, Field Durability: The New Anzick Outdoor Chef’s Knife

The James Brand & SITKA STUDIO Partner on the Pinnacle Outdoor Culinary Experience

Portland, Oregon (May 15, 2023) - When you’re cooking over a bed of coals, your classic kitchen cutlery isn’t going to cut it. Following two years of design inspiration from chefs and hunters alike, two like-minded but unexpected brands - SITKA STUDIO and The James Brand - partnered to create the professional-grade, limited edition Anzick outdoor chef’s knife.

While most chef’s knives falter outside of the kitchen - broken tips, rolled edges, and blades that rust up at the first sign of water - the Anzick is purpose-built for cooking outdoors. Tough enough to make short work of a rack of venison, but still precise enough to filet a fish, the Anzick is a modern outdoor chef’s knife that combines culinary-quality with durability.

“This project started with a desire to elevate a meaningful and fundamental human experience—cooking food outdoors,” said Brad Christian, SITKA STUDIO Brand and Creative Leader. Ryan Coulter, founder of The James Brand adds,“SITKA Gear and The James Brand have a mutual obsession with nailing the details of every design and the Anzick is a reflection of that shared passion.”

Bridging the gap between what nature demands and cooking requires, the Anzick is made from razor sharp MagnaCut steel that combines the toughness and durability of high carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless. The full tang construction provides maximum control, stability, and balance with a slightly textured and contoured CNC milled G10 handle to anchor your grip when chopping and cutting, even with wet hands. The rivetless construction eliminates food and debris collection points to reduce corrosion and ensures the Anzick can be easily rinsed and thoroughly cleaned. The food-safe DLC coating improves wear and abrasion resistance, while providing low-friction, high-hardness, and anti-reflective properties. A Hyphalon sheath protects the knife while storing, and easily snaps apart for quick cleaning.

Each Anzick outdoor chef’s knife (MSRP $499) is hand-made, laser-engraved and individually numbered, hand-sharpened, and made in the USA. Available now while supplies last at the jamesbrand.com and sitkagear.com/knife
