Mississippi Holds One-Day Deer Seminar

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A one-day seminar to discuss deer management concepts and habitat management will be held at the Forrest County Extension office on July 24, 2010.

The seminar will cover the following topics: Factors that influence antler size, doe harvest management, buck management, spike harvest explained, deer nutrient basics, timber management strategies, deer habitat management, how to conduct a camera survey, antler score estimation, hunter recruitment opportunities, food plot management and aging deer on the hoof.

The seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. for registration and the program will be from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There is a $50 fee which covers lunch and workshop materials.
