Ruffled Grouse Society Holding Michigan Fun Shoot

CORAOPOLIS, Penn. — The North Central Michigan Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS), in conjunction with the Le Grand Traverse Chapter will hold a Fun Hunt on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Tails- A-Waggin’ Hunting Preserve, 18319 50th Ave., Marion, Michigan beginning at 8 a.m. (rain or shine).

According to Mark Stephens the entry fee for the event is $42 per dog (includes lunch), and all entries must be received by Sept. 4th. Limited to the first 30 entries, participants must be RGS members, ($25 membership applications will be available on site). Two chukar’s per dog will be set out on each brace, and hunters can keep all the birds they shoot. Dogs must be void of any electronic devices.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and the top 4 placements will go on to the RGS Michigan "Gun Dog of the Year Trial" on Sept. 13th.

Proceeds from this event will be used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat.
