The Extreme Charge™ 5-stage charging system is described below:
Stage 1: Charge evaluation, test and initialization
Stage 2: Bulk charges at .1A to 2.5A
Stage 3: Absorption and saturation charge
Stage 4: Infinitely variable float maintenance charge
Stage 5: Continually PULSE charges to minimize size of lead sulfate crystals.
The charging system is simple to apply and monitor:
- The charging process starts once battery cables have been properly connected and have plugged Xtreme Charge™ into a 110 220-V ac power source.
- A green “on” light illuminates and indicates the charge is receiving proper ac input. If it is connected to the battery correctly, the red Test Led comes on, indicating the unit is testing the battery’s condition. During the “test” cycle, Xtreme Charge™ determines the battery’s state of charge and illuminates the appropriate light: “25%” “50%” “75%” or “100”. This test step also incorporates a “bad battery” indication if the battery is faulty and cannot be recharged.
- Once Xtreme Charge™ has evaluated the battery’s current condition the test light goes off and the appropriate charge profile begins automatically.
- The green “charging” light indicates the charger is providing bulk charge to the battery.
- Three green “pulsing” LEDs light sequentially as the charger conditions the battery simultaneously. Patented PULSE Technology enables it to accept and maintain its maximum charge. Xtreme Charge™, as opposed to other competing systems, does not allow a “trickle charge” once the battery has achieved “100%” charge. A trickle charge has proven to kill batteries.
This innovative, 5-stage Xtreme Charge™ maintenance system has proven to increase from three to five times the duty and life cycles of any size or type of 12-volt lead-acid batteries.
PULSE Technology substantially improves efficiency and extends battery life. Studies show that through the use of the Pulse Technology lead-sulfate crystals are more evenly distributed over the surface of battery plates. These microscopic changes greatly improve a battery’s ability to accept and store energy. PULSE Technology employed through Xtreme Charge™ also prevents the sulfate-induced corrosion that is the primary cause of shedding of active material.
