American Deer & Wildlife Alliance Opens Youth Safari Camp

2010-06-11

AUSTIN, Texas — Helping to preserve our American outdoor traditions, the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is inviting young sportsmen (ages 8 to 15) to attend the new ADWA Youth Safari Camp, a new series of hands-on youth events for a memorable and educational outdoor experience. The half-day event will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the Texas Hidden Springs Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas, and will provide a fun, hands-on outdoor education, including tracking, shelter-building and wilderness survival.

“We are very excited to offer this fun series of outdoor seminars for children,” says ADWA President John Meng. “There are millions of sportsmen and women in America today, but our numbers are declining rapidly so it is essential that we encourage our youth to become more involved and knowledgeable about the outdoors if we are to preserve our outdoor traditions which are so uniquely American.”

While a permanent home for the camp is still in the works, the interim camp is located on an 800-acre ranch near New Braunfels, Texas, and features a safari-styled tented campsite where attendees will enjoy preparing meals by campfire and learning outdoor skills. The camp tent and materials were donated by Montana Canvas of Belgrade, Mont., and McCoy’s Building Supply of San Marcos, Texas, both of which have a strong commitment to helping our nation’s youth learn about the outdoors.

The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is a non-profit organization working to promote the deer and wildlife industry and to preserve our American outdoor traditions. ADWA also sponsors Keith Warren’s Deer & Wildlife Stories, a nationally broadcast television program on the Pursuit Channel, and the Outdoor Patriot, a monthly podcast (www.OutdoorPatriot.com) which features commentary and industry guests.

Camp cost is only $50 and includes a one-year membership to ADWA as well as an optional membership to the National Rifle Association, the nation’s largest organization to support all forms of hunting. Space is limited. Call ADWA to reserve space today at 877.331.8607.
