AUSTIN, Texas — Helping to preserve our American outdoor traditions, the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is inviting young sportsmen (ages 8 to 15) to attend the ADWA Youth Safari Camp, an on-going series of hands-on youth events for a memorable and educational outdoor experience. The half-day event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Texas Hidden Springs Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas, and will provide a fun, hands-on outdoor education, including tracking, field dressing and dog training for hunting and retrieving, featuring Diamond W Kennels.
“We are very excited to offer this fun series of outdoor seminars for children,” says John Meng, president of the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA). “Hunting participation among our youth is declining rapidly these days and many of our outdoor traditions are in jeopardy, so it is essential that we encourage our kids to become more involved and knowledgeable about wildlife and nature. Our Safari Camps are designed to give children outdoor experiences which are both fun and educational, and hopefully these experiences will foster a greater affinity and understanding for the outdoors.”
The ADWA youth camp is currently located on an 800-acre ranch near New Braunfels, Texas, and features a safari-styled tented campsite where attendees will enjoy preparing meals by campfire and learning outdoor skills. The camp tent and materials were donated by Montana Canvas of Belgrade, Mont., and McCoy’s Building Supply of New Braunfels, Texas.
Camp cost is only $20 and includes a one-year membership to ADWA, free cap and subscription to ADWA’s Points Journal and/or Spikes Magazine. Space is limited and parents are urged to attend with their children. Call ADWA to reserve space today at 877.331.8607.
